what is the oolong tea ?

Oolong tea is a traditional Chinese tea passed down through generations. It’s made from the leaves of the Camellia synesis plant, the same plant used to make green, black, white, and Pu-erh teas.

The unique characteristic of oolong tea is its partial oxidation process. After harvesting, the leaves are withered under the sun and then shaken in baskets to bruise the edges, which starts the oxidation process. The leaves are then allowed to oxidize anywhere from 10% to 70%, depending on the desired style of the tea. This partial oxidation gives oolong tea its distinctive flavor profile, which can range from floral and fruity to toasty and earthy.

Oolong tea is often prized for its complexity and balance of flavors, as well as its ability to be steeped multiple times while still maintaining its rich taste. It’s commonly enjoyed in China, Taiwan, and other parts of East Asia, and has gained popularity worldwide for its unique taste and potential health benefits, which may include improved digestion, weight management, and mental alertness, among others.
